Chicken Tikka is a popular Pak-Indian dish that is made with marinated chunks of chicken that are grilled or broiled. Here's a simple recipe for making Chicken Tikka:
Ingredients:
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into bite-size chunks
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, minced
- 2 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder (optional)
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- Salt, to taste
- Oil, for brushing
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, mix together the yogurt, lemon juice, garlic, ginger, garam masala, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder (if using), turmeric powder, and salt.
- Add the chicken chunks and toss to coat well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
- Preheat a grill or broiler to high heat.
- Thread the chicken chunks onto skewers, reserving the marinade.
- Brush the chicken skewers with oil and grill or broil for 8-10 minutes on each side, or until the chicken is cooked through and slightly charred.
- While the chicken is cooking, heat the reserved marinade in a pan over medium heat and bring to a boil.
- Reduce the heat and let it simmer for a few minutes until it thickens.
- Serve the Chicken Tikka with the cooked marinade as a dipping sauce.
Enjoy your delicious Chicken Tikka!
You can serve it with chutney, salad, or rice.
